About the Recreation Committee

Greetings! The committee is made up of volunteers that represent the players within their district. Our view is that recreation is a key element in every adult and children's participation in soccer. All players, regardless of program division they are currently involved with, are recreational; they are all kids.

Youth soccer is extremely popular. As an example, there are over 150,000 Division 4 players registered in CYSA-North as of October 2005. Do not get hung up on division labels as all youth players are recreational players. Soccer is a game and it needs to be recreational to make it worthwhile for our youths.

A key part of the committee duties is to facilitate communications between the organization of CYSA and its members. Each youth and adult member of CYSA is highly valued as creative individuals. The recreational committee offers an avenue for individuals to work with other similar volunteers to help them meet their goals.

Preserving the concept of recreation in youth sports and helping members enjoy their experience, be you a player, coach, or parent, is why we are volunteering our time on this committee.

Your input and ideas are always well.

Articles

Soccer Start

A program designed to introduce soccer to at-risk children living in economically disadvantaged areas such as rural and inner city communities.  In addition to soccer being used as a tool to increase the child's self-esteem and as a positive alternate activity, it can be an opportunity for them to be recognized for their achievements and provide potential scholarships for academic, athletic, or leadership skills.

 TOPSoccer

TOPSoccer is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with special needs.  These needs are because of a physical or mental disability that might discourage or preclude the child from participating in a sports program.

Founders' Cup

The CYSA Founders' Cup (formally called American Cup) is a State Championship Tournament for Class 4 boys and girls teams in the Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-19 age groups.
